No trip to the Dolomites would be complete without experiencing and photographing the world-famous stone towers of Tre Cime di Lavaredo. However it wasn't the scene that made my experience memorable, it was the weather conditions endured. I set out on the one-mile trek in high winds and horizontal snow with visibility of less than 10m. To say there was a miraculous clearance just before sunset would be an understatement. The barren landscape and austere scene revealed, reminded me of Mordor from Tolkien's 'Lord of the Rings' !
