The remarkable Earth Pyramids or 'Hoodoo's' of Ritten, sculpted by thousands of years of erosion, stand like natural stone sentinels beneath their balancing capstones on the Renon plateau in the Italian Dolomites. Thick mist and fog hid the scene on arrival and a wait of two hours for conditions to improve was required to get this image. The Pyramids are an excellent example of natural erosion and the forces of Mother Nature. Their precariously balanced forms create a fascinating landscape that seems to defy both gravity and time.
