December 2024 - DPS Viewpoint in Outdoor Photography Magazine

This dramatic image showing crepuscular rays breaking through stormy skies over the Ogwen Valley in Snowdonia (Eryri) National Park, featured as the lead viewpoint in December's 2024 edition (issue 314) of Outdoor Photography magazine. The weather had been poor in Snowdonia for nearly a week, with low cloud and grey skies - not ideal conditions for landscape photography! With a desire to get out into the fresh air, I merely decided 'to just go for a walk.' The parting of the skies as I approached the upper flanks of Pen yr Ole Wen took me completely by surprise, but fortunately I had my camera in tow to capture the event. This dramatic light lasted for just a couple of minutes, before the weather once again closed in with sunlight not to reappear for a further two days.
